The term sealing refers to when one seals moisture into ends(hair) by applying a sealant of choice which could be an oil, pomade or butter.
The ends of your hair are the oldest part so extra care must be given in order to retain hair growth. Afro textured hair grows just like any other hair type, but when people make the statement that afro textured hair "does not grow" they are mistaking that for a persons inability to retain length.
Now lets get to the good part....
HOW TO SEAL ENDS AND WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Spray bottle
Distilled water/spring water
George's 100% Aloe Vera fractionally distilled liquid(optional)-------->
Sealant such as olive oil, grape seed oil, avocado oil, JBCO(what I use), shea butter or anything you feel will seal the moisture into your ends.
1. Fill the spray bottle with equal parts water and aloe vera. The aloe vera is optional, but I love it because it adds extra moisture to my hair and keeps it soft.
2. Section your hair and spray mixture evenly. Pay extra attention to those ends.
3. After spraying each section apply your sealant.
To get the most out of sealing do this routine at night so all you need to do afterwards is get ready for bed. My favorite thing to do after I seal my ends is wear a protective style, twist or braid my hair. I keep it simple because less manipulation means better hair length retention.
Now this is just my personal method, but I would love to learn what others do to keep those thirsty ends happy!
